On November 14, 2008, the first female 4-star general, Ann E. Dunwoody, was promoted to the U.S. Army’s highest rank.  There are only 21 female generals in the Army (only four are rank higher than 1-star generals), so when Ann Dunwoody received her promotion last week, did she break the glass ceiling in the U.S. military or is this an anomoly that is unlikely to be repeated in large numbers anytime soon?
