A few years ago, I wrote an article for Entrepreneur.com called “10 Laws of Social Media Marketing.” In that article, I shared what I felt were the most important rules of social media marketing that all brands and businesses must follow to be successful.
Last week, I stumbled on a SlideShare presentation created by Abhishek Shah that is a cool visualization of my original article. He did a great job of stylizing the 10 laws of social media marketing, and you can view the presentation below.
As I clicked through the presentation, I was happy to see that my 10 laws of social media marketing are still just as valid today as they were a few years ago when my article was originally published. The list came from my thoughts after writing my book, 30-Minute Social Media Marketing, and I’m reminded as I view the SlideShare presentation that the content in my book is just as relevant today as it was when it was published in 2010. My content is usually focused on strategy, and that book is not an exception. While some of the tools and tactics have evolved, the strategies remain the same.
Bottom-line, the tools might change and evolve, but fundamental marketing theory stands the test of time.

Yes, I’d like to believe that quality content wins, in the end. However, I think that’s only true when you’re dealing with an audience that demands quality. I’ve been careful to focus only on markets that do. Great food for thought — thanks!

The presentation is really nice. Readers and audience can have a better understanding of the topic without being bored. You’re right, when creating a good content you have to persistent of that. Choosing where your interest lies should be consider before writing and with this you won’t have difficulties in creating new and better content. And yes, patience, in business you really need to have a lot of those since failure is inevitable. Nice post. 🙂

Stephen, You’re point is excellent. The content needs to match the audience. If your audience expects quality content, you need to consistently provide exactly that.

Dear Susan, Glad that you liked the presentation. Trust me i’m big fan of your work and ensure that i don’t miss any of your content. If i may ask your permission of converting your articles into presentations? You could pick and choose the same and i shall do my bit.

That’s a really nice slide show and the points are as much true today as they ever were, however its amazing how many people don’t pay enough attention to them or use them the wrong way, so many people don’t realize the importance of making sure your social media campaign is done correctly!

Hi Abhishek, I’m so happy to hear that you enjoy my work. You can share anything I write in your presentations as long as you clearly link back to me and indicate that I’m the source (www.keysplashcreative.com). I’m happy to share the visual/stylized presentations that you create using my content with my audiences, too.

Marion, You’re absolutely right!

The SlideShare presentation was really nice. It’s good to know that the social media marketing tips you shared a few years back still stand true today. I agree with Julie that patience is really important.
