PRESS RELEASE
‘Inspiring Women in Business!’ – an exciting evening of inspiration, creative strategies for professional success and opportunities for business networking will be coming to London in November inspired by the acclaimed debut novel ‘Egg-Larva-Pupa-Woman’ written by Ogo Ogbata. This unique event which commemorates the creativity and courage of women from Nigeria, Britain and other parts of the world, will take place in the snug and sophisticated confines of The Auberge – 56 Mark Lane, Fenchurch, London EC3R 7NE.
An excellent line up of speakers that includes a consultant for top-notch companies and organisations such as British Council and United Nations (Mike Skidmore), Nigerian-born former Harvard director (Chioma Isiadinso), a health and beauty expert who began her career at CNN (Antonia Mariconda) and event facilitator (Ogo Ogbata) will talk about ‘the one woman’ who has inspired their achievements so far as well as sharing practical strategies that will inspire women (and men) to keep their eye on success, against all odds.
Political aide Alistair Campbell was recently vilified for acknowledging only three women in his list of twelve exceptional leaders at a recent business event. In his defence, Alistair explained that his choice was due to the fact that there are more men competing for top positions than women. It is the often unseen efforts made by women despite harsh conditions that Ogo seeks to honour. All the speakers at her event will be recognising the women who have influenced them positively.
‘Inspiring Women in Business’ events will also focus on the tangible impact that women from Nigeria, Britain and various countries have made on their communities through entrepreneurship. Ogo believes that messages are often best relayed through storytelling hence writing the heart-wrenching novel ‘Egg-Larva-Pupa-Woman’ which is set in the politically charged colonial and post-independent Nigeria, as well as Britain and other parts of the world.
“The reality is that women still face enormous challenges on account of their gender despite advances made in politics, science and technology.” Ogo says. “In the developing world, many women are deprived of dignity and education. In the western world, 1 in 4 women will be a victim of violence in her lifetime and 2 women a week die violently. The plight of women cuts across socio-cultural boundaries. However, it is not all doom and gloom as women are achieving great things regardless.”
The ‘Inspiring Women in Business’ event is particularly suited to current or aspiring entrepreneurs, business people who would like to engage better with a female demographic as well as forward thinking career and business professionals of both genders.
