Instead, identify the times where you’re most likely to need a pick-me-up snack. For some, it’s the journey home or perhaps it’s two hours after you’ve arrived at work. Make sure you have something accessible and relatively healthy on hand – it’s pretty hard to resist treats when your home brought option is only plain crackers. A handful of raw nuts is a great snack to have on hand.
Rest
Did you know that up to 45% of Australians do not get enough sleep! Chronic busyness is one thing that you can address to help you get adequate rest. Develop a simple routine that cues your mind and body that it’s time to wind down. You might like a shower, quick skin care routine, or a few chapters (or pages) of a not too stimulating book. Avoid prolonged use of technology screens close to bed, especially phones, which we tend to hold close to our faces. When you turn off the light and settle in, this is not the time to mentally run through the events of the day or tomorrow’s to do list. If you need to do this, complete the task in another room, and leave the bedroom for sleeping and more enjoyable activities!
Confidence
Self-esteem is highly individual, and it’s important to define what that means to you. Some people feel more confident when they are over-prepared while others thrive on spontaneity. You may feel ready for action when you’re dressed for the part or the most prepared when you’re in the most relaxed attire that allows freedom of movement. Once you know the conditions under which you feel the most empowered, seek them out to maximize your efficiency. If it’s some liposuction in Melbourne or treating yourself to a power lunch planning session, don’t feel guilty. If it works for you, it’s an investment in your wellbeing and productivity.
Above all, remembering your humanity can be humbling but also comforting. So when the pressure is on, prioritize the things that really matter until you can get back to your regular standard of amazingness understanding that this will evolve over the years.
