Did you know September is international “Update Your Resume Month”?
I didn’t either…but it is!
This press release by career coach and author, Ford R. Myers, offers five tips to develop attention-getting resumes:
1. Be Brief
2. Be Specific
3. Be Active
4. Be Selective
5. Be Honest
Taken like this, I think these five tips can apply to just about every facet of a women’s career. The job search, resume, interview, meetings… the list goes on. They really can even apply to personal life…think about these five principals applied to dating…or even parenting! The “be specific” piece comes to mind most in the parenting aspect, and even at work.
To survive in this world run by men, you need to crawl, scratch and fight your way to the top. You need to be able to succinctly tell people exactly what you want and need. Work with people that will work with you not against you. If they aren’t sure, you explain by demonstration and give honest feedback. These seem like pretty good life principals.
Thank you International Update Your Resume Month and Ford R. Meyers, you just gave us all a life handbook!
