Discrimination can take many forms, and “good-looking” women are not immune to its reach, despite what most people think. It turns out, everyone can be affected by discrimination and it’s never justified. Mark Henricks of American Express Open writes:
A 2010 paper by a University of Colorado Denver Business School researcher found that attractive women encounter discrimination if applying for positions that are deemed “masculine” roles, such as director of finance or construction supervisor. And a study conducted by a European research group in 2011 tracked the results of resumes that included a picture of the applicant. The study found that employers were much more likely to call back attractive men than less-attractive men. However attractive women were less likely to be called back than women with no picture.
