We all want a better life for our families and loved ones. As we enter 2018, so many people will be chasing the entrepreneurial dreams of a better life.
If you have access to a computer and the internet, there’s no better time than now to start a side hustle and create a second income from the comfort of your home. Maybe you want to replace your income so you walk away from your 9-5 job.
While that sounds amazing, the truth is that it’s not as easy as many people want you to believe.
Chasing the Entrepreneurial Dream is It Right for You?
Many people want you to believe that all you need to do is start a blog, throw up some affiliate links, and sit back and watch the income roll in. If it was that easy, then so many people would be chasing their dreams. I am here to tell you that it isn’t that easy.
I have been chasing the entrepreneurial dream for over 10 years. While it has been a challenge and sometimes I have just felt like throwing in the towel, the truth is that I have no choice but to keep pursuing my goals.
It May Not Take You 10 Years
One of the reasons that it has taken me so long to find something that I am passionate about is I was always jumping from one method to another. Instead of putting my head down and working hard, I found myself jumping to the next shiny object. I figured there had to be a magic bullet that was a lot easier than working hard.
Don’t make the same mistake that I made with my entrepreneurial journey. As long as you’re willing to keep working hard and follow your heart and passion, I have no doubt that you will see success a lot faster than I have.
What are You Passionate About?
You’ve probably heard successful people say that they love what they do. When you follow your passion, then you don’t feel like you’re working because you love what you do.
I have to agree. Since I’ve started following my passions, it’s a lot easier to stick with the journey. I love what I do, and I wake up every day wanting to share my knowledge with my readers.
If you’re just chasing the money, chances are you will quit when you don’t see the results as fast as you wanted to see them.
Focus on Serving Your Customers
Whether you’re a blogger, brick and mortar business owner, or you have your own team, your main goal is to focus on serving your customers. If you’re the person who provides the best help, you can guarantee that those people will keep coming back. Before you know it, they’ll become your customers and will buy your products or services.
Stop thinking about the money and start asking yourself, how can I help my readers or customers? It takes time to build trust with your customers, so work on that.
You are Your Own Boss
Most of us come from an employee mentality. We only do enough and only do what is asked of us. We are not the ones who make all the calls in our businesses.
When you venture into your own business, you become the boss. You wear all the hats in your business. This means if you don’t get something done, you have no one to blame but yourself.
This used to be one of the hardest things that I used to struggle with when I started my blog. I had no clue how to promote my blog, and I had no clue what to do to grow my blog. It was up to me to continue to educate myself on a daily basis, especially if I wanted to see any improvements on my blog.
Make sure that you’re taking the time to learn as much as you can about growing your business. Growing a business is hard, and it takes a lot of hard work.
You Don’t Quit Easily
Chasing the entrepreneurial dream takes time. It’s much easier and safer to get a job. As I mentioned, I’ve been chasing my dreams for years. Most people would have already given up and thrown in the towel. If you want to succeed in achieving your dreams, you need to have a burning desire to succeed. That burning desire will keep you going even when things don’t go the way that you want them to go.
It doesn’t matter if it takes you five years or 10 years to achieve your goals. The important thing is that if you want things to change, you’re going to have to start chasing them today.
So ask yourself, are you happy with where you are today? If not, are you ready to start chasing your entrepreneurial dreams? Let me know. I’d love to hear your responses. Do you have what it takes to chase your dreams?
