Love is the Missing Piece
No, this isn’t an ad for a dating site, although maybe it should be….
I was in the process of writing on a different subject when I found myself in a conversation with a client (who shall remain nameless but will likely know its them when they read this 😉 )
We were discussing their business and a particularly rough couple of weeks they have had. I found myself in a discussion about reasons we had chosen the paths and businesses we have.
The gist of it was…there is something that we love about what we do.
When you lose sight of what that is, or things get off track, you find yourself dreading checking your emails, it is likely your business or work is suffering as well.
The key is to figure out what you love to do. Find the missing piece to making yourself happy. Some people are simply in love with their job, they set out to do something and have found happiness doing exactly that. For some it may be that they are in a job that to others, may not seem ideal but they happily go to work every single day. They have found some piece of that job that is important to them and makes them happy. It can be as simple as human interaction, knowing you are helping someone, learning new things, something that brings you happiness in your day.
If you don’t love what you do, you aren’t doing it right, or something has changed within you. Either way, it is inevitable that your work will suffer; you will care less about what you are doing. Things may start to slip, the quality of your work and service will go down hill and you will have an unhappy boss or unhappy clients. Who wants that?
It is important, whether you are in a job, or have your own business, that you remember what it is that brings you happiness. What are you goals? Why did you start this? What changes do you need to make to your current situation to achieve your goals? Answer these questions truthfully and you will have your missing piece. Find the love in what you do, or make the changes you need to so you can complete your puzzle. Want to go to work, be excited to check those emails and make another client happy. Give a smile get a smile, and spread the love.
