PRESS RELEASE
Pittsburgh, PA, October 1, 2010—While many entrepreneurs shy away from starting a business during a downturn in the economy, Dr. Cathy Cameron saw an opportunity that far outweighed any of the risks.
A college professor at local universities for over 20 years, Cameron, a Hampton Township resident, has found her niche industry—teaching essential business skills to displaced workers, individuals seeking a career change, people interested in learning new business models, and students who want to learn about business without attending a 2-year or 4-year program.
“Over the years, I recognized there was a need to help those adults who did not want to go to college to learn the skills they need to succeed,” says Cameron. “They also had no desire to attend a career school and become just a number. They wanted to be one person learning what they need to get ahead.”
Inspired and motivated by this desire, along with her positive student evaluations, Cameron recognized the potential to start her own business, Cameron Seminars.
“Not that I was superior in teaching,” she says, “but it was my love for teaching, my caring and compassionate nature, and my willingness to treat them as individuals and go the extra mile that my students appreciated. I always believed in my heart that the student is my customer.”
Cameron’s 777 Business Program launches on October 5, 2010, at the Pine Creek Office Building, Suite 1, on 52 Pine Creek Road in Wexford. Each seminar is limited to 24 students. Students will take 7 hours of 7 core business courses over a period of 7 days. Along with the 777 Business Program, Cameron Seminars will also offer a 7+7 Technology Training program for those who want to learn computer applications such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. Additionally, as part of Cameron Seminars, she has started a Real Estate School for real estate agents and brokers who need continuing education credits as well as real estate sales pre-licensing for those seeking a career change.
Cameron believes that those who are seeking to enhance their current educational knowledge with business, technology, or real estate classes will be drawn to Cameron Seminars because of its:
• Individualized training-and one-on-one attention
• Small class size
• A Professor with a PhD in business and 20+ years of experience
• Comfortable non-intimidating classes
• Affordable quality education
“My goal is to provide my students with an affordable quality educational experience,” she says. “I plan to teach with compassion, caring, and professionalism. I also want to create a customer service relationship so my students can call me with questions, drop in for guidance, and look at me as their business coach.”
With the profits from Cameron Seminars, Cameron and her husband will be donating 5% to the Children’s Institute Free Care Fund in Squirrel Hill as a thank you for helping them when they had a child in need.
Cameron Seminars will be offering a scholarship program and awarding $3,600 per year of education to 6 applicants who apply for the scholarship to attend their programs. As an incentive to encourage early registration, Cameron is also offering a free one-week stay at her Myrtle Beach Resort condominium.
