Brandy Lee of The Daily Muse wants women to stop acting like girls at work. No, she’s not suggesting that women close the gender gap by trying to hide the fact that they aren’t men. She’s suggesting that women can get in their own way in business by letting some common female qualities hold them back.
Brandy suggests that women should learn to hold back their emotions, stop trying to be friends with their coworkers, and start dressing for the jobs they want (hint: the clothes in the Victoria’s Secret catalog are probably not going to help you get the reputation and career you want in business).
I’d add that women should learn to promote their own accomplishments, because modesty will get you nowhere in business.
