According to research from the White House Council on Women and Girls, just 25% of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce are women. If that’s not bad enough, those women are also paid significantly less than men.
For example, in the biological sciences field, the average woman’s salary equates to just 76% of the average man’s salary. In the life, physical, and social sciences field, the gender gap in earnings isn’t quite as large. In this field, the average woman’s salary equates to nearly 90% of the average man’s salary.
